For øvrig ble det labre greier Neil Patrick Harris fra How I Met Your Mother fikk ut av rollen som programleder.
En av taperne i årets konkurranse var den fengende nykommeren The Americans, som ble snytt for alle viktige nominasjoner allerede fra start. Louie, Girls og Game Of Thrones gikk derimot tomhendte hjem tross mange vinnersjanser. I tillegg syns vi Veep burde vunnet prisen for beste komiserie, og at Jon Hamm hadde fortjent en Emmy for sin 6 år lange innsats som Don Draper nå, før serien går inn i sin syvende og siste sesong (som i likhet med prisrivalen Breaking Bad deles i to, med sju episoder våren 2014 og ditto året etter). Derimot var det vel på tide at liksomrepublikaneren Stephen Colbert fra The Colbert Report dyttet kompis og medprodusent Jon Stewart ned fra pallen etter 10 år på topp med sitt The Daily Show.
